MAESTRO has a number of built-in security measures described below.
- Network security. Data transmitted to and from the production server hosting MAESTRO and the user’s browser is encrypted using SSL technology, an encryption protocol commonly used by web-based vendors and financial sites. This technology provides a high level of security that protects against unauthorized access to MAESTRO. If your browser does not support this technology (99.9% do) you may have difficulty accessing MAESTRO. Contact the network administrator if access issues arise.
- Login credentials. Your user name and password are the key paired pieces of information vital to network security. The user should not share this information when in a production environment (active database). At times, there may be demo users created in test/training environments where sharing user names and passwords is acceptable.
- Study and module access. The sponsor of a clinical study determines not only the clinical trials the user (study coordinator, monitor, investigator, etc.) will have access to, but also the specific modules (screens/functions) within the clinical trial. Access is authorized via the Permissions Form previously described. (Ref: User Access) Upon completion of MAESTRO training, the user is sent an email with login information.
- Audit trail. When data in MAESTRO is changed or updated, a log is automatically created which tracks the date/time of the change and the user who made the change. This log may be accessed by anyone who has rights to view that CRF. (Ref: Changing Data)
