To control changes to data on a CRF, MAESTRO allows a form to be marked as frozen. Usually permissions to freeze data are given to the sponsor or monitor.
[Note: MAESTRO does not have field-level freeze/lock capabilities. The entire CRF must be frozen.]
Once a CRF is frozen, the user will only be able to edit the fields that have open/unanswered queries attached to it. (See Data Queries for more information on queries.) Fields without open queries are not editable.
An example of a frozen form visible from the subject landing page may be seen in Figure 1 below. Note the green “F” flag for the Enrollment Notification CRF.

An example of viewing a frozen form from within the CRF is shown in Figure 2 below. Note that once in a locked state, the “Freeze” button will change to “Unfreeze”. Also note that the “Lock” button is greyed out to prevent locking the CRF until open queries are closed. Once a CRF is frozen, the user is unable to edit data except those data points with open/unanswered queries (identified by ).
