Many times in a study, free-form entry will collect data items, but these items need to be categorized into groups for reporting purposes. You can have multiple coding processes for a study. Many times CEC Adjudication will be one of the items. Or adverse events may need to be coded. Other times it may be medications.

MAESTRO allows you to perform this on data fields on the form, without interfering with the normal workflow associated with data on the form. Think of it as a hidden section that you can modify through the coding module without breaking signatures. As a result, the items being coded should reside in a section that is not visible to site staff in an EDC study.
